I recently potted on tomatoes, aubergines, peppers, and pumpkins. The aubergines and pepper seedlings want a couple of weeks before planting out, as they aren’t quite big enough yet, and the pumpkins will be planted out soon. You can see some of these in the pictures below.

This week I planted out tomato and squash seedlings into their final growing position, which required removing the overwintering mulch and digging holes for them. The weather has now warmed up enough at night that we won’t be getting any more frosts, making it safe for these to be planted outside. Check out this blog post, or this video on Instagram, for information on how to plant seedlings out.

Something was digging up some of the potatoes, which hadn’t sprouted yet, so I moved a wire fence from another part of the garden to protect the potato plants. They are now doing well, as you can see in the picture below.

A lot of the plants that I’m growing were in small pots or modular trays, and in a polytunnel, meaning that a lot of watering was required during the hot and sunny we have been having recently. Seeds and seedlings in the garden have also needed watering due to the lack of rain, and being too small for the ground to be covered with a mulch to keep the soil damp.
Below are some pictures from the garden. First up are some of my favourite flowers right now. Then it’s the apples and cherries that are starting to form. And finally you have the broad bean flowers, and even some pepper flowers coming out from a plant that was overwintered inside.
